VEPSIAN THEME IN THE WORKS OF TAMARA V. KRASNOPOLSKAYA

 

Abstract: The article covers the aspects related to the Vepsian theme in the works of the Karelian scientist Tamara V. Krasnopolskaya (1937–2015). The problem of studying Vepsian ethnic music is revealed in the context of the study of interethnic interactions in the singing folklore of the peoples of the Northwest of Russia – the vector of the scientific work of the scientist. The author analyses Tamara V. Krasnopolskaya's approach to the study of the reflection of the features of the Vepsian artistic thinking in the borrowed material, particularly in the character of the embodiment of the artistic chronotope in Vepsian culture.

THE IMAGE OF SAINT NICHOLAS IN THE ICONOGRAPHY AND SPIRITUAL VERSES OF ANCIENT KARELIA (TO THE QUESTION OF SEMANTIC FORMS)

 

Abstract: The article covers the aspects related to the commonness of the semantic forms of selected icon-painting themes and texts of spiritual verses dedicated to St. Nicholas by the example of the well-known poetic edition “The Salvation of Basil from the Saracens”. The stylistic and content-rich interrelations between the canonical image and the adapted by the people poetic work are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the issue of traditions associated with the pre-Christian basis of folk culture and the foundations of the Russian medieval worldview.

NORTH KARELIAN WEDDING LAMENTATIONS: RHYTHMIC ORGANIZATION OF POETIC TEXTS IN COORDINATION WITH THE MUSICAL-RHYTHMIC STRUCTURE

 

Abstract: The subject of the research in the article is the specifics of the organization of the poetic texts in the North Karelian wedding lamentations. The rhythmics of the lamentation texts is viewed as an independent way of structuring poetic tissue with the help of various kinds of sound repetitions out of alignment with the chant, the features of coordinating the poetic text and the musical-rhythmic structure of the lamentations are analyzed.

VITALIY FARTUSHNY: “THE CAPTIVATING SOUND OF THE OBOE”

 

Abstract: The essay covers the work of the professor of the Brass, Woodwind and Percussion Department of the Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire, oboist Vitaliy Petrovich Fartushny. The author describes the creative destiny, years of study, the formation of the highly professional performer, his weighty contribution to the development of the oboe. The multifaceted activity of the musician as a performer, a teacher, a publicist and a public figure is presented.
