Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatoire invites researchers (doctoral students, applicants for academic degrees, graduate students, scholars and professors) from Russia and other countries to publish the findings of their research and the results of their academic and practical activities in the online academic "Music Journal of Northern Europe".
The basic aim of our academic periodical is to publish studies on history, theory and performance practice of musical art. Our objectives are

  • to reflect the results of research, academic and practical activities performed by Russian and foreign scholars and applicants for academic degrees;
  • to highlight the problems and trends of modern musical studies from different angles: history and theory of music, sociology and psychology of musical perception, philosophy of music, ethnomusicology, music source studies, textology and management in music;
  • to organize open scientific debate in order to improve the quality of thesis and dissertation papers and effective examination of academic works;
  • to provide information support for innovative academic projects in the field of music culture;
  • to perfect at Petrozavodsk State Conservatory named after A.K Glazunov academic publishing in accordance with the requirements of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and international Science Citation Index, in particular Web of Science, Web of Knowledge and Scopus.

The editorial board accepts academic articles on the following subjects:

  • Recent developments in musicology and music composition;
  • Historical and contemporary forms of musical practice;
  • Classical Music in the modern world;
  • Musicology in the context of the humanities;
  • Ethnomusical cultures of Finno-Ugric world;
  • Musical culture of Northern Europe;
  • Educational technologies in arts universities.

The journal also publishes reviews of monographs, textbooks, training manuals and accounts of academic and scientific events.
The journal is issued quarterly. All materials undergo peer review procedure in order to improve the quality of published articles.
